The Alternative TOTP Christmas Canon: Dennis Waterman & George Cole - What Are We Gonna Get 'Er Indoors?
Oh, pop culture. What are we going to do with you? 'Interpolating In The Bleak Midwinter', apparently, and going on the recorded version there seems to be some ad libbing and half-forgetting of lyrics going on. Stage fright?

"Ahh listen to that Arthur.. That's yer actual bowbells"
a) No - it was a sound effect of a dog b) We can't hear Arthur as the sound guy was busy fading up every slider on the mixing desk trying to find the correct lapel mic.
I take it this was live, because someone needed 'a right dooin over' if they could have recorded the performance again.
By the way - does the bloke next to Peely look like George Best's older and slightly overweight brother?
Curious that the Minder phenomenon brought forth three cracks at the chart (Waterman/Kenny, The Firm and Waterman/Cole) yet it great rival Only Fools & Horses produced no such chart-based spin off, despite the best efforts of it's 2 theme tunes...
Yes, having just caught this again on BBC 4's totp 83 crimbo edition, I get the distinct impression dennis and george were performing live? A rarity back then.
